  • Walk the line Wednesdays: week: 49

Continuing to examine Paul Klee's famous quote "a drawing is taking a line for a walk", I'll be attempting to challenge myself by adding a drawing a week to this blog, mind you, the idea for me is to keep it as simple as possible, laying down only the lines that are needed to communicate the idea.

As usual, to see how these mere thumbnail sketches designed to be used for composition & value maps can be instrumental to the success of fully completed painings, check out the Gallery or the Available works pages on this site. Some of these will be developed into studies, others full blown paintings & quite a few left as is, in anticipation of future development. Priorities, right!?

  • Patriotism (Redux)

Given last nights Superbowl results, I thought it only appropriate to add this painting to the Gallery section of my website. It was comissioned about decade ago by his wife who wanted to celebrate his enthusiasm for his teams Superbowl win by sharing this comission with him.  In the best way I know how, this years win compels me to honour a dear old friend, gone but never forgotten and the most true blue Patriots fan I've ever known.  I know he's up there today smilin'  & probably even dancin' a little jig. Running out of fingers to count the wins on! Good on ya bud.

  • 'Rarefied Air'

'Rarefied Air' an Acrylic work on canvas 30x48" commisioned by my cousin Walter Cantwell  is a painting of Mt Olympus in Olympic National Park from the vantage point of Obstruction Point. This is a special place that Lisa Cyr-Cantwell and Walter visit annually (usually with friends around their anniversary).
